Lexter is a legal talent intelligence platform testing a hypothesis: could a tech-enabled recruitment practice dogfood its own SaaS product? I joined to build the outbound system that would prove it out.
The challenge: legal recruiters have a terrible reputation. Lawyers call them a “necessary evil” with “crypto bro energy.” We had zero inbound leads, zero brand credibility, and a limited budget.
I built the entire outbound system from scratch — tech stack, automation, and messaging — working closely with the CEO.
Segmented candidate lists from Lexter’s database. Personalized multi-channel sequences across email, LinkedIn, and phone. Automated Slack alerts for new job postings, scraped from 450+ sources via Make.com and Airtable.
Lawyers don’t want to hear from recruiters. So instead of leading with a pitch, we led with something useful: a personalized Talent Snapshot Report for every search. Each report pulled real market data from our database — tailored by market, practice area, and bar call range.
The reports earned replies from lawyers who weren’t even ready to move. And they kept the relationship warm — when we followed up later, we weren’t strangers. We were the people who’d sent them something genuinely useful.
Personalized market intelligence for every search we ran. Each report was tailored to a specific market, practice area, and bar call range — pulling real numbers from our database. The thing that turned cold outreach into warm conversations.

Designed the Talent Snapshot Report template and pulled live market data from Metabase. Automated job-posting alerts from 450+ sources via Make.com. The reports became the anchor of every sequence — the thing that turned cold emails into conversations.
Ran multi-channel sequences and tested angles, subject lines, and report formats. Hit a 36% response rate — lawyers were replying even when they weren’t actively looking.
$215K CAD in qualified pipeline. 14% of contacted lawyers accepted by clients for interviews. Two people with the right system outperformed what a traditional team of five could match.
Personalized outreach across email, LinkedIn, and phone — designed to sound human, not salesy. Tested and iterated over 8 months to hit a 36% response rate.
Personalized market intelligence reports for every search — real data from Lexter’s database, assembled in Canva. The trust-building content that turned cold outreach into warm conversations.
Make.com scenarios for job scraping (450+ sources), Slack alerts, CRM syncing, and AI-assisted call prep. Turned a two-person team into a system that could operate at scale.
Built from Lexter’s internal database — segmented by seniority, location, and practice area. Every outreach was targeted, not spray-and-pray.
Full-funnel visibility from first touch to client interview — tracked in Airtable with Metabase dashboards. Showed exactly where conversion happened and where it didn’t.
Real-time notifications for high-value job postings scraped from 450+ sources. The team could act on opportunities within hours of them going live, not days.
The outbound system got us in front of the right people. The Talent Snapshot Reports kept the conversation going. That shift from “pitch and pray” to “lead with value” drove a 36% response rate in a market that actively screens out recruiter outreach.
